Although each book Epic Bound produces requires thousands of hours of labor, we view each project in three distinct phases.
01 Discover
02 Design
03 Deliver
In the "Discover" phase we will:
Before beginning any work, we dedicate time to understanding what you would like your readers to experience. This is our chance to imagine all of the possibilities and truly uncover the purpose of your book. With a firm vision in place, we can ensure it becomes reality.
The most effective way to capture a person's story is through a series of recorded interviews. These interview sessions are always held on location with each of the key participants of the story. Genuinely thought-provoking questions will elicit the details that will later help your story come to life.
Adding the appropriate historical context to events is a crucial part of effective story telling. Our writers will not only focus on revealing your story, but they will also conduct research into the broader historical events of the time. These "sidebars" prove fascinating in their own right and can provide additional details to your story.
In the "Design" phase we will:
With hours of voice-recorded interviews, our team of seasoned writers and editors will transform your best stories into an engaging narrative. Although we will always remain true to your "voice," we try to keep the story fun to read yet professional. It can take several months to transcribe, organize, and write a manuscript.
Hundreds of photographs and images are integrated into every history book. Each photograph is scanned, digitally restored, color-corrected, and enlarged - allowing you to enjoy the faces and places from the past as if the photos were taken only yesterday.
Next, our graphic design team will begin pairing all of those wonderful images with your completed manuscript. If you take a look at any of our coffee-table books you'll instantly notice our commitment to story telling through fantastic imagery. We create visually stunning coffee-table books because they are fun to look at and pull readers in.
During this step in our process, our design team will also begin to develop any custom illustrations (maps, timelines, or charts) for use in your book. So when one of our books reaches the layout and design phase, it's truly the beginning of something special. Our design team will breathe life into your story, page by page!
In the "Deliver" phase we will:
Our editing team takes extreme care in producing error free books. All spelling, punctuation, and grammar are triple checked. Before going to press you will receive a full-color proof to review and approve. You have final say regarding all aspects of the book.
Each history book is printed in vibrant full-color on acid-free paper, which is made to last generations. Great care is then taken in the individual binding of each book.
And although most of our Personal Biographies are printed in runs of less than 50 copies, we are also capable of printing thousands of books for our business customers. Many of our Corporate History clients will print enough copies to give to board members, the leadership team, employees, important clients and prospects, and investors.
Completing a book is obviously the most exciting and rewarding part of the entire project – not only for our clients, but also for our staff as well. After having poured thousands of hours into producing a single book, it can be hard for our team to let a particular project go. So to make it easier on everyone, we love to help coordinate an unveiling event!
